Seller Tools
You can use Dollabee to start selling doll clothes and accessories right now! This quick guide should tell you everything you need to know about creating a successful listing. Here we go…
[Note: You do NOT need to add your street address in the listing process. Just leave it blank.]
- Listings are free, unless you want to have it be a featured listing, in which case it’s $5 payable via Paypal during the listing creation process. It’s your choice.
- You can list any type of doll.
- You can list original ‘branded’ doll clothes. Or you can list custom/couture/hand-made doll clothes. Important note: BEE As Accurate As Possible in the categorization process. Maintain the quality of the categories by listing your items properly. You cannot edit the category after you create the listing, so it’s important to do it correctly.
- You cannot list shoes that are made in China, unless they are authentic ‘branded’ items originally sold from AG or another authentic doll brand. Or, unless they are part of an complete outfit that you are selling.
- You can sell directly on Dollabee like you would Craigslist. Once a buyer tells you they want the item, just send an invoice through Paypal, and after they pay, you send the item.
- (this is important), to avoid any confusion about whether the buyer received the item or not – always use delivery confirmation when you ship the item so you have proof that you sent it.
- You can list your EBay or Etsy listings here too – Just create a normal listing and include a link in your Dollabee listing back to your EBay Auction, or Etsy description so the buyers know how to ‘get’ the item.
- Title your post accurately. If you sell custom/couture clothing use a descriptive title, and don’t use the phrase “American Girl Doll Clothes” unless you are actually selling an original (branded) AG item. If your item is custom/couture name it something, “Blue Dress”. It will be in the AG Custom/Couture category so there is no need to put that in the title. Saying, “Blue dress for AG dolls”. The main thing is to look at the title from the point of view of a buyer – and ensure your title doesn’t confuse things. If you use a Liberty Jane pattern, don’t title your listing, “Liberty Jane Dress”. Title it, “Blue dress”, then in the description you can say it was made with a Liberty Jane pattern.
- For Liberty Jane Partners – as with Etsy, we’d appreciate you mentioning that you used a Liberty Jane, or Heritage, (etc.) pattern, in the description somewhere. You can even put a clickable link to Liberty Jane patterns if you’d like.
- If you link to an EBay auction, then in the listing form, when it says, “price”, just enter “auction”.
- In the listing form, when it says, “Price”, you DON’T need to add the dollar sign, ($). The Dollabee listing form does it for you.
- If you want to have an ‘avatar’ picture associated with your seller profile, then you must go to gravatar.com and create a ‘gravatar’ using the same email you are using on this site. This site pulls that data right in. It’s sort of funny, but that’s the way it works. Yes, gravatar is free.
- You can add up to 3 pictures. Each can be up to 1 mebabyte each. If you exceed that size limit, the listing form will tell you and force you to go back. [Note: To ensure this site complies with copyright laws, we will delete your listing if you use an image from American Girl or any other manufacturer. If you're selling an item, take your own picture of it for use in your listing. As an appropriate work-around, you can add a link to a manufacturers website in your listing, and in this way show buyers the item which you are listing without violating picture copyrights.]
- Your pictures cannot be rotated after upload, so ensure that you upload “Portrait” (tall up and down) images for best results.
- Your listing is automatically set to expire after 7 days. You can re-list easily as needed.
- If you don’t see a category that fits your item, do your best and use the “Doll Other” or “Clothes Other” category.
- If you clearly place items in the wrong category we will delete them.
- We reserve the right to delete any listing.

It says there is not a fee to list your item. Is there a fee when you sell the item? What about a PayPal fee?
Thanks.
Sandy
Nope. Remember, this is like Craigslist. Paypal fees do apply if you use paypal to finish your transaction.
How can I edit my listing, the picture? Thanks
We are working on that – it’s a bug we are trying to resolve. There is a blog post about this…
This is great, is there a way to upload our photo to our profile? I can not seem to find it. Thank you for this site!
Yeah, it’s sort of funny. You go to Gravatar.com and create a ‘gravatar’ using the same email you are using on this site. This software pulls directly from that gravatar data.
It’s just too cool how the Gravatar image shows up when you make it! I used my personal Facebook account image in hopes that people would recognize me from there, sort of a trademark thing I guess. Thanks Cinnamon and Jason for starting this site. I have been accumulating American Girl brand items to sell but eBay’s fees lately have really discouraged me from that. Now I have an excuse to round up all of these things and list them. I just know that as successful as Liberty Jane is, this site will be destined for great things!
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, the Gravatar thing is cool once you figure it out. It will be great to see your items listed!
OMG! WOW!!! FREE!!!!! You two are super people. Amazing, speechless….
Hey Cinnamon, I was just reviewing the sellers guide and although I knew you couldn’t list shoes separately because they’re manufactured items is it Ok to include them with an outfit that I sewed? I’m cool either way just don’t want to get myself in any trouble with the Hive before we all get comfy.
The hive, that’s funny. This whole bee thing is so fun isn’t it?!
So, after a long debate, going back and forth reviewing the pros and cons of our somewhat arbitrary rules, we’ve decided…
If you’re listing complete outfits, including a pair of non-brand-name shoes – that’s fine. But no shoes by themselves.
Thanks for asking. We’ll update the seller guide with this info.
Thanks for the reply. Love the Bee theme and gotta love their sneakers. So cute!
Hi, I was wondering if it’s okay to post WANT ads also for things we may be looking for or if this is a strictly selling/buying site? Thanks!
~michelle
Hi Michelle,
We’ve been debating that for about a week. We are thinking having a ‘wanted’ section and a ‘services offered’ section could both be cool – all doll related of course.
We were kinda thinking we’d wait for a while before introducing those categories.
What are your thoughts on it?
Those categories sound great! I am sure people do cleaning, re-stringing, face-ups for dolls as well and those services are marketable but are not tangible items to sell in a standard post. If someone doesn’t have the patience or skill to sew, but they enjoy repairing, cleaning, restringing, or making over dolls, the services category would be an avenue where they could showcase their talents.
The “wanted” section would get complicated if there are a lot of “wants” though. It would almost have to have the same number of categories as the listings to stay organized and still be navigable. Maybe a wanted section for each main topic to keep things all in the same categories? It seems like a very useful feature since so many of these doll lines have collectible merchandise and series that people are piecing together bit by bit. I mentioned it because there are some things I’m looking for to complete a collection. Sometimes people have things they want to sell but only if there is interest. A want page would be a way to advertise the desire to purchase those items.
I look forward to listing items and also looking for goodies to purchase. Thank you for hosting this website and for responding to my question so quickly.

This is great feedback. So let us stew on it a while longer, but I’d imagine we’ll do this fiarly soon. Watch the blog section. We’ll let everyone know when we set it up.
if we sell stuff that we made with lj patterns on here do will still have to do the partner ship
Yes, the partnership agreement guidelines are appropriate regardless of whether you sell here or on Etsy or Ebay.
BTW u guys really r super people cause u guys save me ALOT of money very genors pepl hops u kep it tht way
Thanks!
Are we allowed to list knitting patterns for sale for American Girl dolls? I sell them in my Etsy shop and would like to link to them through an ad on here. I don’t see a category under which those would fit.
P.S. I’m so excited about this new site. It’s wonderful, thank you for creating it! =)
If you’re open to it – We’d like to discuss having you join us as a pattern partner on Liberty Jane Patterns. We think your work would do very well there. We have not planned on having a pattern category on this site. You can email at cinnamon@libertyjaneclothing.com and we can share more about it.
hi cinnamon so there is no fee to post stuff and for people to buy it and whats the whole partnership cause i will probably use your patterns
and an u show us on youtube how libbeys manniquin turned out and does libbey sell stuff on here
Hi, correct. There is no fee for buying or selling – except the paypal related fees. The partnership details are on the “Partner With Us” page. You can check it out there.
i don’t know when someone wants my outfit and when i can send it to them?
No worries. When a buyer wants an outfit – they use the ‘contact’ form to email you. They say, “I want it” or something like that. Then you give them your paypal email address, and they send the money, and then you send the outfit.
can i sell some outfits
NOT ones i made but ones that fit ag dolls? i can’t read my comments!
Yes, as long as they are authentic AG brand outfits. You can either sell those or custom made outfits – that you made. The only outfits we ban are mass manufactured items (made in China) or other places.
Hopefully that makes sense.
how do i get a paypal?
Just visit paypal.com
i don’t have a paypal? how can i sell my outfit?
If you can get a paypal account, that’s the easiest way. There are several other options, but Paypal is the easiest.
how come i can’t see the 4 comments i have?
when do i know someone wants my outfit?
Hi,
You know they want your stuff when they use the contact form and send you an email about it. Then you finalize the transaction through paypal…like you’d do with Craigslist.
Hope that helps,
How do you make money? is it just from the paid advertisements? I purchase alot of Madame Alexander Dolls and clean them up or dress them to re-sell on Ebay. Can I do the same here? Can I sell original Madame Alexander Clothing as well as Homemade?
Thank You,
Joelette
HI Joelette, This site isn’t about us making money
Although we do make money of of the paid ad’s, but it’s very minimal. We set it up so that there was a central place on the web for people to list their doll related items and not get totally lost in the mix on sites like ebay…
Yes, this is the place to sell your Madame Alexander Dolls and clothing items. You can sell directly through your listing here, or link the dollabee listing to your ebay listing to generate more traffic. Hope this helps
Cinnamon
By the way, I love fixing up dolls and yes I am a mom, the money I make when re-selling the dolls goes to a shelter that won’t accept used toy’s. Just didn’t want you to think I am some strange lady that buys alot of children’s playdolls for herself. My daughter (9) and I love to do this together, we wash them, do their hair and dress them, then there gone. It’s been a fun hobby for us together and the other girls in the neighborhood love to bring there dolls over when they have made a mss out of them.
Thanks for sharing this, is sounds like a lot of fun!
