FAQ
Wondering what Dollabee is all about? Here is a list of common questions and their answers:
Q. What can I sell on Dollabee?
A. You can sell dolls and custom doll clothing and accessories. We do not permit mass manufactured items unless they are authentic/branded items, (Made by the original toy company).
Q. Why should I use Dollabee.com instead of EBay or Craigslist to sell my doll?
A. Listing on Dollabee is free, and we have a very organized doll and doll clothes category, so sellers can immediately see what’s available. If you want, you can still list your doll on one of those sites, then just put an add on dollabee to share the link.
Q. Is dollabee safe?
A. You need to follow our ‘Safety Guide‘, and if you do, then you should be fine. Remember, Dollabee is a very focused selling community, so most the people looking at this site are doll enthusiasts like you.
Q. What if I don’t see a category that accurately represents my item?
A. List it under ‘doll other’ or ‘clothing other’. We will monitor these categories, and if we need to add more categories, we are happy to do it.
Q. Is listing your doll or outfit free?
A. Yes, unless you decide to list it as a featured item. Then it’s $5.
Q. Can I list my item here, even though it’s for sale on Etsy or EBay?
A. Sure, just like Craigslist, you can list your add here directly, or just mention it, and have a link to your Etsy or EBay listing.
Q. Do I have to include my addres in my listing? I don’t want to
A. No, it’s optional.
Q. What if I pay for an item, and never receive it?
A. If you used PayPal, which you should, then you can go through the resolution process to get the charge disputed. And, please let us know. Additionally, we are telling all sellers to use delivery confirmation when they send items, so they have proof that they sent you the item. These two steps should help reduce any problems.
Q. How do you get your profile picture to show up?
A. This site uses built in Gravatar.com functionality. So just go to www.gravatar.com and set up a gravatar using the same email address you are using on this site – and it will magically appear.
Q. I’m a seller, I don’t want to get banned from the site if someone wrongly accuses me of not sending the item, what do I do?
A. Use delivery confirmation when you mail the item. If you’re mailing a doll, you really ought to anyway. Keep good records.
Still have a question for us? No worries – just leave it as a reply!

Hi Cinnamon,
I love your new site! I listed an outfit, but then regretted putting my home address in it. How do I edit the listing. Can’t find an edit button anywhere.
Also, if my outfit sells on Etsy, do I have to remove it from this site. It isn’t linked in any way, it is?
Thanks,
Diane
Thanks!
You can edit a listing. On your dashboard look for the pencil icon to the right of the title.
Yes, if it is a OOAK item, then you should mark the item as ‘sold’…again, through your dashboard.
I have a couple questions. 1) Can they be handmade doll clothes using whatever pattern or one I made up myself? Or only LibertyJane patterns? A lot of the partner info is confusing to me. If they are only LibertyJane patterns, than I need to be a premium partner to use them and sell them? 2) You mention eBay or Etsy. I sell at the moment only on Artfire. Can I link a listing here to Artfire? Thanks so much. This looks like it could be a great place to sell doll clothes.
You can sell any handmade doll related item you want. No worries. Sorry for the confusion. Any partner, (not just premium partners), can use Liberty Jane Patterns as the basis of sew-from-home work.
Artfire, sure. You can link to any other selling platform.
I just want to say this is very cool and I hope it takes off! I’ve listed some things here… thank you for creating “Dollabee”.
Thanks! We appreciate your support…tell a friend!
Hi Cinnamon and Jason!
This is a great idea and site. I created a listing and just copied and pasted the Etsy listing http/. How do you create a link so that when they click on it you are taken right to the Etsy page. I see a couple of people have done that – just haven’t got a clue how.
Thanks
Jackie
There is an icon in the listing editor that has a chainlink looking picture. Highlight your Etsy link – the one you want to be ‘clickable’, then click that link icon, and enter the url again. That creates the link.
Hope that helps!
I’m guessing that American Girl books would be listed under “doll other” until possibly enough book auctions are listed that AG books could get their own category? Or are books something you would rather not have listed here? I was thinking of strictly the AG doll historical books, the mysteries, short stories or even possibly AG authentic craft books. I know I have extras of some of the characters’ books floating around that could use new homes.
Yeah, we are thinking “doll other”. We hadn’t thought about having the AG books, but that seems good…. good call!
Hi, I listed a clothing item and have realized there wasn’t a listing shipping costsection. Is that supposed to added to the cost of the outfit? (I’m assuming that to be correct, though wanted to check with you. Thanks! In stitches, Blue
Yes, that’s the only way to do it on this site.
Hi! I was wondering, is there any way that I can sell a custom jewelry item for AG dolls but make an available option for customers to choose how they want the piece to be made? For example, If I list something called “Custom AG doll bracelet”, than how do I know what the customer wants? Like purple or green beads?
Sure, just make it very clear in your listing details. I guess you’d list it under “American Girl Custom/Couture” since we don’t have a category for “Accessories Custom/Couture”. Maybe we should make that in the near future.
I listed my first item then, read the guides. I went back and, I thought made changes. It turns out that I now have the same item listed twice. How can I delete the first one? I now know how to edit.
You ‘take it offline’ on the seller dashboard. It’s a button just to the right of the listing.
I also need to edit the category. I didn’t read B$ I listed. So sorry. I love this idea, hope it goes well.
Sadly, you cannot edit the categories once you make a listing. The only workaround is to take the listing offline, then make a new one in the correct category. Sorry, we wish it was a bit easier.
I guess I’m either blind or stupid. I am trying to link to my listings on ebid and etsy and CANNOT find any chainlink icon. As long as I’m pestering you, once again, will there be a way to renew the listings. without having to go through the whole listing option at the end of the 7 days? I have almost 200 outfits listed, but, I’m not going to go through this whole process for many listings every 7 days.
Hi no worries at all. We are here to help. The chain icon (and unlink icon) are right next to each other – on the second row of the editing toolbar, just right of the center. The way it works is you place your link in your article, then highlight it, (dragging the cursor accross it), then click the chain link icon (a pop up will appear, and you insert the url). You can actually highlight any word and make it ‘clickable’ in this same manner. Hope that helps.
The relist feature is literally 1 click – on the seller dashboard. After seven days there will be a “relist” button that pops up next to the listing – just click it.
At some point we are going to make a seller video, but we haven’t got around to it yet. Sorry, I realize that would help make this easier….
And one last thought – with 2 hundred listings – please be extra sure you read our FAQ and seller guide related to categories. Once you list an item you cannot modify the category, so you need to get that one part correct from the start.
Again, we are here to help, feel free to ask anything!!
I noticed a CouponCode box when creating a listing. What is this for?
Hi,
The coupon is for listing an item in the ‘Featured Listing’ section. The Liberty Jane Premium Partners get a coupon for that purpose as part of their membership benefits. If you’d like to become a Premium Partner so you can get this coupon code, (and a whole bunch of other benefits), visit http://www.libertyjanepartners.com
hi cinnamon and jason..
i have a question. i do want to sign up for this website as in be able to buy or sell things from this website…..i am not sure how to do that….also, when i get to setting it up, the items i put up here, do i pick a price for them or is that sumthing you do, thank you please replay, i am a big fan of libby on youtube and i love all liberty jane outfits, i often make my doll clothing only out of those patterns and sum of my own.
On the front page there is a “Post An Ad” button on the right side – just click that and you’ll start the process…
Hi
Why can I not look at comments? Is says I have been blocked from seeing it.
As a seller, when people inquire it’s emailed to you. If they leave a comment it will be under your listing in the ‘reply’ section.
You can view general comments on the blog by clicking on the blog category – then the ‘comments’ tab.
I’m guessing you’re trying to use the navigation function on the top left side of the screen. It is not the correct navigation to try and use -it is just related to your WordPress account. Sorry it’s confusing.
Hi Jason and Cinnamon!
Your instructions to create a PayPal button work perfect and I got as far as step 2 to review the listing – the button was there. When I click on proceed to finish the listing it won’t proceed. I haven’t had a problem until I added the PayPal button. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to click on something else?
Thanks a bunch.
Jackie
Thanks Jackie, sorry for the frustration with this – we just tried it with a basic seller account and it didn’t work for us either. So, we’ll investigate it and circle back. If it turns out that you cannot do this with a basic seller account, then we’ll let you know, and take down that post…
I also am having the same problem as Jackie and wondered if anyone else was having that problem. I will watch for your answer when you get that link fixed.
I think that it turns out that you cannot do this unless you are an administrator on this site. So, I’m going to take down this post. I apologize that it’s frustrating. It worked fine for me, but then no one else has been able to replicate it.
Hi there. I know this question might be silly and the answer must be somewhere. How do i know if my item has been pick to buy by a buyer? I go to my Dashboard a couple times a day. I see no change. I also check my emails just in case there is a request there. Please tell me.
Frecklyjane
Hello Again!
Thanks for the fast response to the above question – so much to learn, but, so much fun…..Sorry to be a pest. I had a few listings expire and clicked the relist button – nothing happened – now it says they are offline. I can redo them easily, but, just wondered if it takes a while before they appear back on line or should they have relisted immediately?
Jackie
There is a little button on the dashboard, (next to then pencil icon), that looks like a ‘pause’ or a ‘play’ button. You need to click it to ‘play’ and then the listing will say, “Live”. Hopefuly that makes sense.
Worked like a charm!!!! Thanks for all of your help. You two are awesome!!!!
Jackie
No problem. We are happy to help and happy you are liking Dollabee!
Hi Jason and Cinnamon! I don’t know if it is just me, but my listings ran out a few days ago, and when I clicked the “re-list” button on all of them, it now tells me they are “off-line” I am curious, do you guys moderate listings before they are posted?
Thanks so much for your time!
Sincerely,
Rachel Noel
Hi Rachel,
There is a little button to the right of the listing on the dashboard – that looks like a “play” or “pause” button – like on a radio. If you click it – it will turn your ads back ‘online’. The ads run for 7 days then have to be re-listed that way… Hope that helps!
Thank You do much Jason and Cinnamon! I did not see that button at all! It actually worked out well, because I sold two of the items I was about to re-list! The lady who bought them said she found me on here! Score!
Fantastic. Glad you’re finding success here. We are excited for you. And keep us posted on how everything goes. It’s fun to hear about seller success!
Hi Jason and Cinnamon…..I listed an item over a week ago, linking it to my Etsy store.
I wanted to list a different item, and I keep getting the message that my photos are too big.
I’m not really savvy about these things, but all the photos in my files are the same size.
I have a Fuji camera, and use Finepix. Once the pictures are in my files, I have no clue as to how to make them smaller.
I tried making one smaller on photobucket, but then I didn’t know how to post it here. None of the links to Photobucket seemed to work. HELP!! Someone!!
HI, The pictures need to be smaller than 1MB, or 1000KB, if you are able to resize them in photobucket you can just save that resized file to your computer but be sure that when you resize it you click “replace original” it will not replace your original file on your computer, just the one that you uploaded to photobucket. Then just put your mouse on the image and then move it to the “file” in the top left corner, then click download to save the new version to your computer.
Thank You!! That worked perfectly! See…….you learn something new everyday!
Awesome!
Hi! What a great idea, to have an alternative to eBay and Etsy – thanks for creating this site!
Is there an option for a store, or do we have to list everything seperately?
Thanks!
Thank you! We’re glad you’re enjoying it. Unfortunately we can’t do stores with this website software – it’s designed to be more like Craigslist. If in the future we can figure it out – we’ll definitely do it.
Hi there. I know this question might be silly . How do i know if my item has been pick to buy by a buyer? I go to my Dashboard a couple times a day. I see no change. I also check my emails just in case there is a request there. Thanks for any help u can give.
Frecklyjane
Hi Freckly Jane,
The interested buyers use the contact form to send you a message. If you want to ensure it’s working – just use the contact form on your listing – and send yourself a note through it – then make sure it comes into your email inbox. It might take a few minutes. If you don’t see it – then you ought to check your emails junk folder – maybe they are being diverted there – or maybe no one has sent you an inquiry yet.
Hope that helps!
Hi Jason and Cinnamon!
Is there a way of deleting an ended listing that has been sold from the dashboard. I know how to take it offline but I now have a few that have sold and I won’t be relisting that item.
Jackie
Unfortunately there isn’t a way to delete them. It’s weird. Unfortunately that’s how this template works. Sorry about that!
Hi there,
This site is absolutely fantastic; I love it! I used Dollabee for the first time today and find it very user friendly. I’m really anxious to see how this works out for me.
However, I have a problem. I thought I had to use my WordPress user name. I should have used “Maiden Flight Clothing” instead. Is there anyway to change this? Thanks for your help.
Thanks,
Nanci
Maiden Flight Clothing
Hi Nanci,
Glad you are liking it! Unfortunately user names are one of the only things that cannot be changed after they’re created. So, you can just create a new account with the proper user name. That should work fine – let us know if there is any problem with that and we’ll help you fix it.
Thanks for the quick reply. I had thought about re-registering, but thought I would check with you first. I didn’t know how that would afffect things for you.
Again thanks so much for the help and this great site.
Nanci
how do you buy an item?
Each item has a ‘contact’ tab on the right side of the screen. Just enter your message there, like “I want to buy this”, and it will email the seller. Most sellers should say in their listing that you can pay through paypal, or they should provide a link to EBay or Etsy – and you can pay through those sites.
I hope that helps, please let us know if there is anything else we can do to be of assistance.
Team Liberty Jane
thanks!
how do you buy/sell with paypal?
I have a question: If an item has sold, can I remove it from my dashboard altogether? Haven’t figured this one out yet!
Thanks so much,
Karen
You can mark it as “sold” or take it “offline”. Currently there isn’t an option to remove it.
I have a question. When I log onto my account, it says there are 8 comments on th etop of the screen, but whenever I click on it, it says access denied. What is that about?
Sorry for any confusion. The bar at the top of the screen is visible to everyone but is for admin access only. If your posts receive comments you will be notified by email.
What a great idea!
I am eager to create my first listing for selling an item, but first I have 2 questions for you.
1…Am I understanding correctly that I may advertise dolls and doll clothing such as the Ideal Crissy Grow -Hair dolls & Ideal doll clothing from the 1970′s?
2.. May I sell my USED doll magazines here?
Thank you and keep up the good work.
Sure, you can sell any doll related items. I think we have categories to cover most things. If you have questions just ask
Hi,
I just love this site. I have sold quite a few items already.
How do we delete items that have been sold? I keep rel-isting them by mistake and having to go back and mark sold.
Thank you,
Florence
hey Cinnamon, I’m new I wanted to know how to put an item on dollabee. ive tried clicking on add new then on post and it takes me to a page that says “access denied” please help. or anybody tell me
How do you get your profile pic to show up? I went to gravatar.com like it was suggested and uploaded a pic there. But it did not magically appear. Thanks!
Sorry, it finally showed up! Thanks!
If I sold anything on this site would I make all the money from it?
yes, you would arrange to receive the payment through paypal.
Hi. I like your bright and optimistic approach to selling doll clothes.
Your doll patterns are not for commercial use except in partnership with Liberty Jane. Do you have any sort of partnership arrangement for people who plan to have their own websites for selling doll clothes and accessories? I’m in the process of recruiting a few local women to do the sewing and would like to use your patterns, but want to sell the clothing through my site in order to build brand recognition.
My site will feature products beyond just clothing. When it’s launched, I’d be happy to include a link to Liberty Jane for visitors who might be interested in making their own clothes if they are inspired by the clothing on my site.
By the way, I clicked on the link to sign up for the upcoming Design Academy but got a 404 page. Are you sold out?
Thank you for any information you can offer.
Hi Cinammon! I’ve tried to update my profile, got the page to fill out, did, but no button or anything that submits it? I was trying to get my bio on here….am I doing something wrong? TIA
HI Karen, I’m not sure I’ll have to look into it a bit…
I have my problem fixed. I just had to stick with it for a bit, hold the tongue right and the gavatar worked!
sort of.
just thought I’d throw this in as I feel SO virtuous getting a geeky thing to work for me for a change!
As for the questions on submitting their links to their websites? I just got mine to work:
paste your url in the description box, THEN the ‘chain’ wil show in the tool box, then a little box will pop up for your info and Voila!
